P90X: Getting Excited!

Tick tock goes the clock!
You are probably growing tired of hearing about it, but I cannot wait to start back on P90X! We are due to take a week off in between Insanity and P90X, but I think I am just going to double up on the first week and get started this coming up Monday.
I am so ready to ‘bring it’!

You sound like you’ve been through this once or twice before. I made it through about 6 weeks of solid P90X starting in August. The last 3 weeks have been off and on, mostly off. What do you think? Start over from the beginning or pick up where I left off?
aye. I’ve done 3 rounds of P90X. I would probably just start the 2nd phase over again. I think that would be a bit better for motivation as well… starting over again will feel like a kick in the teeth. Jumping back just a bit… while you may not be exactly where you /want/ to be in the program (had you not been off/on) will, IMO, just motivate you more the next time.
I always say… even if I am having a crap workout… it’s a workout.. and it’s better than just sitting on the couch watching the Tele..
I actually keep the informercials DVRed, and watch them on occasion.. it helps for motivation.
Are you taking 0/30 pics?
I didn’t take the 0/30 pics. I definitely know that the first days made a huge difference in how I felt, my energy level and my body in general. And from writing down my results I know that I’m much stronger than when I started out.
That’s a good idea re: the commercials. Although they’re on tv enough that I feel like I watch a little every week.
I’ve been able to complete at least a half workout almost every day this week but I need to get back to the full thing. I feel SO much better when I’m doing it regularly.
Snapping the pics can be a /great/ motivator as well. Since we see our body everyday, it’s harder to notice the changes as easily. Having pics to compare, can definitely bring about a ‘hell yeah, look at that!’
The biggest thing (and toughest hurdle) is time. One thing I started to do with the workouts was fast-forward through all the chatter. Each exercise is ‘chaptered’ on the DVD, so when I was finished (which most of the time is before they are…) I would just click ‘Next’ on the remote to proceed to the next exercise. I would then fast-forward a bit until they started doing the actual workout. It makes the workouts a tad bit harder (with less rest), but it definitely helps me with the head funk looking at a slow counting down timer can do…
So if I heard right, you are saying that Insanity and P90XPlus both have more cardio then P90X, if that’s so then I am glad to hear it and avoid them. I just today found some interesting reading about the original group of 10 people who won the 1st Body for Life challenge, 10 years afterward and most cut way back on cardio. The original BFL cardio was 20 min. 3 days a week and that was about all I could ever stomach anyway, LOL!
@john: Heavy Cardio… Insanity is all crazy crazy cardio. P90X+ is definitely more cardio than strength, IMO. They can be useful to include and swap out with the normal cardio routines of P90X, but if you are not looking for cardio.. eh.. I’d avoid them. I have learned to appreciate and almost, ever, so slightly kinda sorta enjoy cardio more than I did previously, but I am still not a huge fan. Insanity pretty much killed me.
I’ll stick with P90X and a few odds and ends of cardio here and there… that will (should) work for me… who knows.. maybe someday I’ll do more. *shrug*
Sweet tats! Sounds like my husband and I, we both are doing the p90x and insanity, well he is just on the insanity and I’m on the plus. Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Susan
Did your husband do p90x as well? Insanity was good… great cardio workouts, but I missed the strength building of p90x.
